Our Left/Right Differentiation Silicone Wristbands are a fun and practical tool for helping riders differentiate between their left and right hands during adaptive/therapeutic riding lessons. These opposing-color wristbands allow participants to perform a quick self-check while steering, passing and tossing objects during games and activities, and executing midline-crossing exercises. By reducing the need for verbal or physical tap prompts from instructors or sidewalkers, these wristbands can promote rider independence and ease of instruction during sessions.

Diagnoses such as developmental coordination disorder (DCD), ADHD, learning disabilities, and autism often involve challenges with left/right differentiation, which can impact motor coordination, spatial awareness, and task completion. Even if this has not been a primary concern, these wristbands can enhance independence while reducing anxiety.

TEACHING TIPS:

• You can scale usage by starting with one band at a time (great for riders who may have reading challenges) or by starting with two bands and progressing to one as needed.
• The bands were intentionally made in different colors to aid with externally focused cueing. For example, use the phrase, "Push the blue band towards the wall," as a left-turn prompt.
• Flip the bands inside out if you prefer to cue using colors only, without words.
  
  

Sized medium (7.48" x 0.5"), for child-sized wrists. Since many children are familiar with wearing bracelets or silicone bands, these wristbands can be a fun and comfortable addition to lessons. They are lightweight and non-restrictive. The bands are secure yet simple to put on and remove as needed. If wearing during mounting or dismounting is a concern, instructors can easily fit/remove the bands while the rider is mounted. They are reusable, easy to clean, and great for both individual and group lessons. Stock up on several pairs to support a variety of participants.
